G H Baillie Watchmakers and Clock-makers of the World Volume 1 mention two John Olivers of Manchester, one who worked in the 18th century who sold his stock and another John Oliver of Manchester and Huddersfield from circa 1755 who eventually went bankrupt. He married Elizabeth Rydings in 1712 Took John Braddock from Hayfield, Derbyshire as apprentice, in 1744 for £20 died 27th June 1766 aged 83
